One of the impacts resulting from climate change on coastal areas is the rise in sea levels. Coastal regions are vulnerable to disasters, especially those caused by maritime activities. Potential disasters in coastal areas, particularly in Indonesia, include rising sea levels, earthquakes, and tsunamis. Community vulnerability occurs when there is a loss of livelihoods, changes in living environments, and so forth.
Several impacts on the socio-cultural aspects of coastal communities include a decrease in the income of capture fishermen due to changes in water temperature that harm coral reefs, leading to a decline in fish populations. Additionally, fishermen may be reluctant to venture into the sea due to extreme weather conditions. The impact of climate change forces fishermen to experience seasons of scarcity, making them vulnerable to poverty and a decline in well-being.
